Descriptions
Cemetery We have made researching and respectfully portraying actual people from the past a specialty, and we share our information and insight about them at these tours we do as educational fundraisers for the area’s museums. If you have a group of ten or more interested in a tour please contact us at least two weeks in advance of the date you would like so we may check our availability.
Fashion Shows: The Victorian Aid Society has done fashion shows for a number of entities in our community, including schools, churches, nonprofits and nursing homes, always with an emphasis on using them as a venue to teach the audience about the fashions of the era. We wear and describe authentically reproduced clothing to give those present a glimpse at “3-D” history. Somehow seeing and touching what could have been from our past makes it real.
Victorian Holidays: Every year the VAS kicks off the holiday season by caroling at the area’s senior care facilities. Since Christmas, as we know and celebrate it, is a uniquely Victorian holiday, we can think of no better way to share the true spirit of the season, sharing and caring, than by raising our voices in traditional hymns with these very special members of our community. Pioneers on
the Train:
Every May, members of the Victorian Aid
Society assume the characters of some of our area’s most colorful
pioneers to add historical flavor to the first run of the season to
Silverton of Durango’s keystone business, the D&SNGRR. The day is a
celebration of the reason that © 2008 Victorian Aid Society, All Rights Reserved |
